Featuring SheBeat AKA Jodie Schofield

Bio

Liverbird with a passion for music and beards…
SheBeat, aka Jodie Schofield, is a Liverpool singer songwriter. After years working in radio as a writer and producer, Jodie picked up an acoustic guitar borrowed from her mum and wrote a few songs using approximately four chords she had been shown by musical friends. The result was not bad at all and now, just a few years later, is a seasoned performer and writer, loving every second of making and performing original music.

A lover of music from a young age, singing along to songs on the radio and TV was something she shared with her mum and when just 7 won a singing contest in Lark Lane’s old Police station. Finalist for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge two years running, and local festival favourite, SheBeat tells you tales of romantic misadventure in perfect portions of hum-a-long acoustic folk pop. 60s Merseybeat influences mix with modern day troubadours PJ Harvey, The Cardigans and Norah Jones. Last year she recorded a debut EP, with Domino Records’ We Are Catchers’ Peter Jackson playing BeachBoys-esque keyboard on all the 4 tracks. You can download it on iTunes, Amazon or Spotify – or buy a homemade CD copy from her live shows.

Jodie also runs Beerdfest-Liverpool's beard and mustache contest. In it's fourth year now, you can come along for quite a spectacle on Saturday September 5th (which is also World Beard Day). Founded in 2012 on a wet winter’s evening, BeerdFest was inspired by Jodie’s beard blog which started when she attended the World Beard and Moustache Championships in 2007. Encouraged by the creative community in Liverpool and beard lovers from all over the UK, over 300 beard lovers were in attendance last time around.
