Featuring Impending Reflections

Impending Reflections, started for fun by two fathers and sons, turned into an inspired dream. They released their first EP, 'Worlds Collide' and received such a great response from family and friends, they decided to put it online.

Inspired Reflections formed in 2012, but became serious about releasing music in 2013. Their music is inspired by two generations coming together to connect to their listeners. As a family they work together to produce a sound that is amazing.

In their few short years of being together, Impending Reflections has moved forward quickly. They have gone from a family band, to releasing music online, to playing live, and were selected finalist in The Last Band Standing in Rhode Island by the New England Music awards. Not to mention they have shared the stage with Anvil, Scare Don't Fear, Outline in Color, Mad Kings, The Bunny The Bear, Black Tide, and Grammy Nominee artist, Shadows Fall.

This two generational band brings about diversity, story telling, and true art that supports local businesses when possible. Their most recent CD release, 'Kindred' was recorded with locals as well as their music video production, artwork for the CD, and worked with a local comic book creator and comic shop on their music video, 'Ghosts in the Mist'.

Don't Give Up

I'm writing this blog because, the last few weeks I have thought about giving up. Giving my dream of being an author and blogger. I have felt frustrated and like a failure. I know others have felt the same way I have.

I'm not giving up though. Saturday night I was talking to my best friend's mom and letting her know I was working on formatting my next book correctly, but it is published on Kindle. I will say, yes many formatting problems I'm struggling with so I'm not promoting it. She went on to ask about Underground Evil. I told her it was still in the works. She yelled at me, yes yelled at me because she's been waiting. Wow, what a compliment! Yes from someone I know, but if the first book in the series was completely awful she would have let me know.

Still feeling a little discouraged, a co-worker and good friend asked how I got started with my idea and dream. At first I was caught off guard. She said to me, you're doing it, what can I do to get started? My first thought was, I'm really not doing it. Then I turned that thought around, yes I am doing it. I may not be where I want to be, but I'm getting there.

Here is the point I want to make. While working towards your goal, dream, or idea,  you are going to feel frustrated at times. You are going to feel like a failure. You are going to get down on yourself. It's ok. It's also ok to fail. Without failing you can't succeed. I know that's a cliché but it's very true.

Failure happens, but you can't fail without trying. You also can't succeed without failure. You have to fail to learn and move forward.

So here's to failing and learning from those failures and I raise my diet coke to toast you. Don't give up. Don't let fear stop you. Don't let frustration stop you. Follow your dreams and do it with love.

A Review of 'His Assistant' by Sharon Cummin

His Assistant, is a great read. Brooke's mom had passed away. After her passing, Brooke learned who her father was. When she learned her father was, the owner of a business who was hiring, she immediately applied for the job so she could get to know him.

Once hired, Brooke met her boss, Kevin. He's, a true business man who puts on the persona of being hard. He's bossy and somewhat arrogant. Kevin didn't realize he had met his match with Brooke. She stood her ground with him. Never before had another assistant spoke to him the she had.

Shortly after being hired, Brooke is sent to Las Vegas on a business with Kevin. Their "relationship" takes a few twists on the trip.

As I was reading I wanted to know what Brooke was going to do next. She definitely kept Kevin wondering in the book. The characters in this book will seem real to you.

I really enjoyed reading this. It was hard to put down. If you like adult romance, I highly recommend this book for you to read. I promise you won't be disappointed. You will finish wanting to read the rest of the series.

Happy reading. Below are the links for Sharon Cummin
